The Nursery School
The Village Montessori Nursery School was established 17 years ago. It has been designed and purpose-built with Montessori principles in mind.
It is situated on the edge of Bradfield Southend, West Berkshire half-way between Newbury and Reading. The school is set in five acres of meadows and trees in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Within the school there are spacious areas for Practical Life and Sensorial Activities, together with Numeracy, Language, Literacy, and Cultural and Creative Activities. There is a quiet book corner, cooking and art areas and facilities for drama, singing and music. It is the only Accredited Montessori school in West Berkshire.
The Montessori Method
The Montessori approach allows the child to develop in a natural way. In order to provide the optimum conditions for this natural development, Dr. Maria Montessori developed a system of education, by observing the child and identifying what she called ‘universal characteristics’ of childhood.
